Lane Savedowe Profile Photo

Lane Savadove is Professor of Theater, Head of Directing, and Chair of Theater and Dance at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. He received his BA from Haverford College, and received his MFA in Directing from Columbia University. Lane has held faculty positions at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Loyola University in New Orleans, and The National University of Indonesia. Lane was the recipient of a TCG Leadership grant and was also a Henry Luce Fellow, in which capacity he served as the Resident Director of the National Cultural Center of Indonesia in Surakarta, Java in the 1990s.

Savadove has also worked and trained closely with such innovative American theater makers such as Judith Malina at The Living Theater, Lee Breuer at Mabou Mines, Ping Chong, and Anne Bogart.

Savadove is the Founding Artistic Director of EgoPo Classic Theater, which began its life in San Francisco, for a period was based in New Orleans, and then moved to Philadelphia after the disruptions of Hurricane Katrina. Notable productions from past seasons include John Guare’s "Lydie Breeze Trilogy," Samuel Beckett’s "Company," Tennessee Williams’ "A House Not Meant to Stand," Frank Wedekind’s "Spring Awakening," and Maurice Maeterlinck’s "The Bluebird." His 2017 EgoPo production of Chekhov’s "The Seagull" won a Barrymore Award for Outstanding Production.
